can anyone with the program tell me how much re17 it would take to get 3400 fps out of a 2506 with a 115 ballistic tip in a 26 inch barrel and what the pressure would be. Dont worry im not going to do it myself.

A 94% case capacity load of 54.5 gr. of Reloader-17 calculates to 3,400 f.p.s. with an estimated peak pressure of 79,290 p.s.i.

A 84% case capacity load of 48.9.0 gr. of Reloader-17 calculates to 3,117 f.p.s. with an estimated nominal recommended maximum pressure of 56,971 p.s.i.

i think he wanted rl-17 not rl-7.
i read the first numbers and thought hmm i'm using 50 grs of rl19 and only getting 3014 average fps with a 120gr bullet.
i'm gonna have to look into 400 more fps.
then i seen the pressure...
[just for fun i'm gonna guess at 58 grs of rl-17]

Your friend needs a 257 Weatherby at the very least to acheive that velocity with that bullet, not enough case capacity in 25-06. (I waved my QL magic wand and it said nope, noway, ain't gonna happen.)

Uh-oh, yeah, I didn't look close enough at his question.
I edited the post to reflect the changes.

Not trying to highjack the OPs thread but there is a load pressure I have been wondering about also, 45/90 2.4" case with a Lee 500 grain 459-500-3R and 50 grains of AA4064, COL 3.07". That's the max load recommended and the start was 45 grains but no pressure rating was given for either load.

wasnt for me or a friend. Just some idiot on line recomending others do it.

I Shoot that bullet in my 45-70 Pedersoli Sharps , loaded out to 3.05" and, if the rounds are loaded with zero concentricity run-out, it is the most accurate bullet that I have tried - even out to 1,000 yards.

Using a barrel length parameter of 30", the estimated pressure and velocity calculations for that combination with Accurate 4064 are:

50 grains AA4064 = 1,653 f.p.s. and 19,962 p.s.i.
45 grains AA4064 = 1,477 f.p.s. and 14,301 p.s.i

Hope this helps

Hey thanks Tom, that's exactly what I wanted to see. Those loads were suggested as being "under 28,000 PSI" but they would not say just how much under that figure, they apparently are exactly what I needed so that info takes the worry out of it for me.

Thanks again

Gonna get some one killed with a load like that.
