Hi all, tho I've been trolling here for a while I still consider myself a noobee. I found a deep fat thermometer for about 12.00 it goes above 800* so that should be good for the purpose of casting. My question is, has anyone used an infrared thermometer with any success. HF has them on sale for 34.99. The person that I spoke to today said it goes to 935*.
Thanks,
Roy

IR will not work for casting.
They cannot read shiny, reflective surfaces.

Go to Rotometals, banner ad at the top of the page, they are one of our sponsors and get their Bullet Casting Thermometer.

It goes up to 1000 degrees and just plain does the job.

Price is $36.99 US.
