2muchstuf,The 16 gauge Flinter started off with a piece of Solid Drawn steel Tube.I machined the round part and the Band. The octagonal section I Filed over about Three weeks of draw filing.I made a breach Plug with the Nocks Breach,Tapped the breach, made and fitted a Stainless Steel Touch Hole cone. The Furniture is beaten out from mild Steel Plate, the Trigger Guard is Riveted and Soldered together.I purchased the Rib from Peter Dyson U.K.At this stage two years ago .I shelved the project.Recently I got hold of a nice piece of walnut and this inspired me to carry on with the project.A step by step sequence can be seen on the MLAGB Forum.

as for shot maker
depends on how much you are going to use. Other thing is can you get the old non zinc wheel weights over there. If you cant get the old lead WW you cant make shot

Wow, beautiful. Thank you for posting that example of amazing craftsmanship. I've built a few frontstuffers from kits, never from scratch like that. Very nice work!

nhrifle, thanks for the interest.I like to potter about in my garage come workshop.I have built several guns and Rifles over the years and and keep saying this is my last one then embark on another(.Obsesive)at my age 76 I should know better.I must confess that Flintlocks fascinate me and always get a buzz when I finaly get them to shoot.
Check out the MLAGB web site forum for an insight in to UK Black Powder shooting.I have another name on that forum but can be recognised from the Shotgun.
Regards.

Best Regards.

If you are looking to make bird shot, then the set up costs will likely be a bit steep. Littleton is probably the best known brand of equipment for that, but I think that there are a few others out there. The odd DIY rigs do also exist in this world.

If you want to make buckshot, then you can get a reasonably priced mold from Lee that makes 18 balls at a time.
$63 direct from the factory http://leeprecision.com/bullet-casting/buckshot-molds/
About $46 from this source - http://www.midwayusa.com/find?usersearchquery=lee+mold&itemsperpage=12&minprice=39&dimensionids=4294846304&pageNumber=3

You may be able to shave another dollar or two if you look around some more.

...By the way, nice job on that classic old smoke pole.
