Thinking about getting one. I have read Weatherby rifles have a long throat which can make it difficult for CB shooters. Anyone know if the new series 2 is the same? And, if anyone has one and cares to make any pro or con comment, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, gents.

I think the Weatherby throat issue will be only with Weatherby cartridges because that is the way they are specked. Non- Weatherby cartridges should be standard SAAMI even in a Weatherby rifle.
So is the series 2 not a Howa? The vanguard is made by Howa but the vanguard 2 may be something else.
I think I saw something about it in the last American Rifleman.

"So is the series 2 not a Howa?"
I believe metal work done by Howa and imported, stock and assembly done here.

I have worked on a few of those, and I must say the new trigger and safety is quite an improvement. Very nice. Otherwise not a lot different than the previous Vanguards. Still a Howa.

And Bullshop is correct - Weatherby calibers have long throats, standard calibers are normal. All SAAMI spec, though Howa holds their dimensions and straightness as far as bores and throats closer than most factories do.
