Where do you black powder users get yours? I have searched every gun shop in town and no one sells any..."insurance reasons". I recently acquired a Ruger Old Army cap & ball revolver and would like to use real black powder as opposed to Pyrodex. Where might I find a reasonably priced source? Thanks...Shooter.

Might check to see if there is a muzzle loading club near you. Usually members mail order it by 25lb case and split up the cost.

Yup hard to find here too, I have heard that there is a guy out in the country that still deals in it.

There is quite a few places to start, Grafs, Powder Inc, the GOEX web site has a list of distributers. Most sell more than just Goex brand. Don't ya just love the big smile on the gun shop employees face when you ask if they have black powder, they proudly walk you over to the Pyrodex, then smile quickly leaves when you explain thats not black powder.

Thanks Guys...I looked into Grafs...Looks like I might have to have it shipped to my work if it requires signature. Wonder how the boss will feel about that...

The City Fire Codes have pretty much run black powder out of town. There was one small gun shop in Casa Grande that uses too bootleg out the back door but the owner died two years ago. I THINK there is a place in Buckeye that may still sell it, I can check and let you know.
I've been ordering mine from Powder Inc. and it comes out to around $20.00 a pound delivered if you order 25lbs at a time.

If you get into the Phoenix area, I could probably let a can of 3FFF go for a small fee

Make your own. They did it 200 years ago. Surely we can do it now.

You can even find instructions on how to on the internet and I believe there is a sticky on this forum about a member doing some experiments. Try the search function.

Look in line for any Rondavoos in your area might have to wait awhile but if in no hurry beats the has-mat fee. I think that there is one at the NMLRA range on February 26 to March 4.

Just looked on the back of Muzzle Blasts Ben Avery Shooting Facility 25 miles north of Phoenix on I 17. Probably cheaper to pay the has-mat than drive from Flagstaff.

I have been using Graf BP (Wano-Schuetzen) with no complaints. The $12 per pound makes up for quite a bit of hazmat differential. Just a mouse click/brown box truck away. The local gun store sells GOEX for about $17/lb

Bass Pro stocks it in some of their stores. But you have to ask for it because it is all kept in back.

Doe anyone in the US make black powder any more? I read somewhere that it's all inported now. But that was several years ago. Is there a US manufacturer?

Thanks for the link tomme boy. I just live 20 miles away and did not know about that place. It will save me a trip to the Cities.

Coonie's Explosives in Hobbs,NM is not as far away as other suppliers so the cost to ship would be less. Their numbers are 505-393-0166 and 800-713-6321. I just pick mine up when I go to Hobbs.
