Anybody have one? Not the cartridge drawing but the SAAMI chamber drawing.

Closest thing I have ever seen to the real saami forcing cone chamber drawing that TC fell in love with, not something I would build but here you go:

That's the only one I've seen too. Is this what the TC are cut to?

All the older 357 mag/357max tender barrels I have seen are real representative of this ****** up arrangement. I looked down a newer encore pistol barrel awhile back in 44 mag, it too had the ****** up forcing cone arrangement.

As you may have guessed by now I am not a fan of this "FORCING CONE" business ....at all, I had my MGM 15 inch max cut with a real throat, and I have never looked back. I saw too many tenders in 357 max that simply would not shoot well, and some 357 mags you could chamber a max round in........not good.

I have 2 of the early vintage 357 TC barrels that Bellm mentions in his article. Both barrels have chambers that are 1.296 deep. 1 barrel has a short throat where only the lands were removed. The other 1 appears to have no throat, just a tapered end to the lands. The barrel with no throat will engrave the .353 nose of a 35-200 RCBS crimped in the crimp groove. Both have always been good shooters, but will not keep up with my FA 357.

I have 10" and 14" 357 Maximum barrels with the famous 0.400" forcing cone. I'm re-chambering them to a modified 35/30-30 wildcat. I changed the reamer slightly and I'll use 38-55 Winchester brass to make what I call the 35-55. With it's 2.05" long case it will completely remove the original 357 Maximum chamber.

More info here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=16472

Using 375 Winchester brass will yield thicker necks for Jword bullets and cases capable of handling high pressures while 38-55 brass is more suitable for cast with thinner necks for 0.360" diameter bullets. The 1/2" long neck provides many options for bullets up to 270 grains.

Boomer -- I think you'll like that wildcat. I have a 10" TC barrel done up in the .357 Hartley, one version of the .35/.30-30 Improved. It does quite nicely with cast bullets.

Thanks Glen,

Good looking cartridge, it looks like you really like the heavies and the hollow points. I've spent many an enjoyable time reading some of your writing.
