I traded a long round barrelled 1892 in 44/40 for this. I didn't particularly like the long barrelled one and my mate wasn't that fond of this shorta$$ed rifle, but I really like it! Deal done!

The barrel is okkkkkkkkkk, lands are still intact but worn down, barrel is sort of shiny. If it doesn't go well, I might spring for a reline and maybe a full length magtube. Full mag 1892s are pretty rare here, they are all pretty much half mag models.

I really like the little sucker. It won't do anything my 44Mag Rossi won't do, but it is nice. I think this one will end up as a black powder scrub hunting and plinking gun.

I have another octangular barrelled 1892 rifle in 32/20 which has a trashed barrel, but nice wood. Hopefully the wood will fit on this one.

Whoops! Almost forgot the pic!

You didn't mention caliber. One about like that in 25-20 would be a bunny getter for sure !!

Or 32-20, 38-40 or 44-40. Very nice with that hidden magazine tube. I can only think that the little rifle in the picture carries very, very nicely. My own preference, since you are a cast boolit man, would probably be 38-40--especially if you've got a mold already.

I put the calibre in the thread title 44WCF, aka 44/40. I also have a rebuilt 25/20 full mag carbine which was made a year earlier, it looks like a new rifle. One young guy took photos of it one day one day and said he was going to get the gunshop to order one in for him, haha! Poor guy was disappointed.

This one reminded me of the Taylor's 1873 Brush Popper model (haha! But wayyyyyyyyyyy cheaper!).

I really like those half mag Model 1892's. Your eyes must be better than mine if you can keep that front sight sharp on such a short barrel. My old eyes would not be able to focus on that front sight, however, a tang sight would fix that problem for me. Nice 44!
