I guess some people just don't care if they rust or not ?

What a shame.............

At least it is evenly rusted!

Is that one "vintage"? I bet it goes for a bunch anyway just 'cause it looks old.

Think it is funnythat the handles themselves are near prestine though,,,

The little craters give the bullets character. Nice round edges and sometimes a bit more diameter. Nice handles though.

If the owner had tied the mold halves together with a piece of wire & dropped the mold in a pint fruit jar of motor oil yrs. ago & left it there long term , think of the difference.

That surely is a shame. As you said, it would have been so easy to prevent.

If posting photos on EBay why not at least oil it before taking photos?

I suppose they figure someone, somewhere, won't care and buy it anyway.

At least their being honest about it.

It may clean up. Then again, it may not. Caveat Emptor, let the buyer beware.
Foe what I have seen molds go for, even molds that look like that and worse, the seller will come out great.

Hard to tell if it is serious from that pic. May be just fine, maybe not.

The ebay'er stated that he doesn't clean his items before (or after) photographing.

That looks like surface rust. If I had this rig (and I have had a couple similar rigs) I would stick it nose down in a jar of EvapORust, from Harbor Freight, for a day or two. Amazing what that stuff can do.

i think it's saveable.
just a good wipe down with an oil and a little cavity cleaning with some flitz or toothpaste and it'll be fine.

Shiloh's right: most sellers on e-bay with molds are getting top dollar, for popular calibers, irrespective of condition. I've bid on a few near retail prices, then lost to folks who WAY overbid. I suppose some like just to "win", regardless of price, eh?

I got a Lyman 38 wadcutter mold on Fleabay similar to that one. In my case, it cleaned up well and casts great. Cheap too !! enjoy Mike
