I have used H110 with plain base in 357. No problems at all.

Those powders give me the best accuracy with the highest velocity with plain based bullets. I have shot literally thousands of 358429/15/296(or H110,wc820) in the 1250-1300 fps range handgun and 1600fps+ rifle. Same applies to the 429421 in the .44mag. Went through many 8 lb. kegs of 296 in my silhouette days.

I've got some 158 grain cast SWC that I bought and loaded twenty-five plus years ago, over 16.5 grains of H110. They shoot well (better than I do) and don't lead; don't know what else one could ask of them...

44Mag -

Howdy !

Oh yes !! In .357Mag, 14.5gr WW296 ( H110 same stuff ) and SP Mag primer under any Lyman .357cal SWC of
158 - 172gr. This inlcudes PB bullets.

I've not found a better load in 35+yr ( shooting in "N"-frames of 4, 5; and 6" ).

Come to think of it... don't believe I've EVER shot GC SWCs through my "N-frames".

With regards,
357Mag

I have always been a fan of 2400 powder in my stout .357 loads, but decided to try the load suggested above from '357MAG' of 14.5 grains of H110.

This is now my standard load for my Marlin and a 6.5" Ruger BH. Very good load. You should at least try it.

When I use WW-296 or H-110, I use a gas-check design in either 357 or 44 Magnum. Might be overkill, but I loathe leading--and hate having to remove it.

That said, I have run Ly #429421 to 1100 FPS in 44 Special with 15.0 grains of 2400. Not a bit of leading, either.

^What he said.
I have tried plain base boolits in the .357, but I have had much better results with the Thompson 358-156 loaded over 15.7 H-110. I put 32 of them into a 2"x 3" group with a rossi 20 inch levergun once. And no leading.

13.4grs of W296 with the Group Buy 358-180RF works just fine for me in my Smith 686.

Lest we forget.......both WW-296 and H-110 meter SO NICELY, and SO CONSISTENTLY. Lovely fuels.

I've been thinking about using H110 in my Marlin 1894c with ACWW Lee .358-158-FP PB boolits. I have been using them with perfect success over 5.7 grains of Unique. Haven't chrono'd them yet but I would guess they're getting around 1250 fps and awesome accuracy. I wonder just how fast you get them going before accuracy falls off? What lubes would you guys recommend? I've been using 50/50 and the guy I buy it from says that adding a bit of paraffin makes an excellent rifle and high velocity handgun lube.

ACWW, Lee 158 gr.(actual 162ish) RNFP plain base sized .358, Rossi 92, 16gr. H110, cci NON-magnum primer, quite snappy...accurate to 100yds..(thats as far as I've shot it) as an aside 14.5gr. 2400 all other items the same, I got cratered primers but reasonalbe accuracy...

I know of little good that can come from adding paraffin to a lube.

I've used a good bit of 296 in the .357 Magnum: wheelweight alloy, H&G #51 plainbase 158 grain SWC and 14 grs. powder, standard or magnum primers. MV app. 1120 from 6" Python. Not a maximum load, but accurate. However, I've found a comparable load of 12 grains #2400 (MV= 1080) to give noticeably less muzzle blast / flash than the 296 load.
