Talked to Dagammo. He is going to have a sale at the Fredericksburg, Virginia, gun show 15/16 Dec 2012 on Tula Magnum Large Pistol primers at $14 per 1000 ($70 per 5000). That is this weekend accordingly.

If any are left over he will offer this at the Nations Gun Show , Chantilly VA on 28,29,30 Dec 2012.

This is a show only price and an opportunity to get a smoking good deal on magnum large pistol primers.

Great Scott ! Don't Snooze & Lose on this ~!!!!

By the way, he is a retired Marine and straight shooter.

Must be nice... If I can find them around here these days, they're going for over $30 per thousand... Have resorted to ordering 10,000 + at a time on line; a little less than I get them local, even with the HazMat fee...

Primers are your friend.

I examined my reloading components and discovered that powder was my weakest link.

10k primers will load...........................................10k rounds.

10k brass will reload...........................................1 0 k rounds.

10k boolits or bullets will load..............................10k rounds.

8 pounds of rifle powder @42 gr/#will load...........929 rounds.

Figure your stuff.

762 shooter: you are in control of your universe obviously and know where to prioritize your component purchases to powder.
I am in same spot and doing what you are doing: going after powder.

I may have gone a bit deep on primers the last few years as I got burnt in the primer drought during Clinton years and in 08 after Obama got elected. Powder was always around and never dried up in both crisis. If there is a weak link , I think it primers still but like you, I stocked them deep and am focused on powders.

For you Socal guys, the last few gun shows at the Costa Mesa fairgrounds has had Winchester primers for $99 per 5,000. I have 85,000 of pistol and rifle combined, so I'm good for a week or so. Good luck, Rod

Hmm. Let's see. I've got primer, zero. Reloadable cases, zero. Powder, zero. I do, at least, have alloy to cast, molds, and a casting setup that runs on gasoline. Working on the other stuff; can't spend the grocery budget on reloading components, or SWMBO gets upset...

Every now and again I use some of the grocery budget to get handloading components and SWMBO is fine with it, Of course every now and again that money I "squandered" on handloading components brings home some groceries and SWMBO loves venison. It's all in the angle of the dangle.

Well, the problem with that is the short rations come when I buy the stuff, and the venison comes the following hunting season (assuming I get one -- been out four times so far this season and haven't so much as seen a deer, except when in my car, driving to or from, or watching other hunters haul out their buck). Also, I've got a much better chance of selling that after I've actually filled the freezer once...

Seems like I paid $60 per 5000 during the Klinton primer scare.
These are great prices for Tula and Winchester

Problem with sales is they hit almost at the times I am short of funds. Not only at Xmas time this year but with post Sandy house damages paid off. However, I can afford $140 dollars for 10K of these primers and be set for most of 2013 pistol shooting .

Paid $30.00 for a thousand CCI small rifle primers at our local gun show. This makes a total of 3,000.

Rifle powder is where I'm short. I'm preping 3,000 5.56 and have bullets and primers, but not enough powder for 3,000 rounds. Gotta find at least four pounds of Accurate 2230.

If expenses permit, I want to lay in at least another eight pounds of 2230 or 748 and powder and bullets for 222 and 22 Hornet (4227).

I paid Schantz supply a visit the other day for my old standby of Winchester large rifle primers at twenty-nine bucks per M .

If I keep shooting like this , I'm going to have to consider an outdoor magazine for storage but oh my how I love retirement !

H-322 is a good alternative to aa-2230,and is sometimes more accurate.
i'm getting on the short side of 2230 too,and will be out of h-322 in the next couple of day's.
