View Full Version : Fair Price for Star 38 spcl Progressive Press

What is a fair price for a Star 38 Spcl progressive press? Its set up ready to go other than the case feeder tube and the lid for the powder container. The last one I could find sold was on Ebay last year for 425.00. This is the Progressive and NOT the Universal

I have two Star Universals. It seems the E-bay price has increased lately. The Universals were going in the 300.00 to 400.00 dollar range a little over a year ago. Now they seem to be going for $400.00 to $550.00. I would think for a Progressive that $300.00 dollars would be right. The limiting factor as you know is that the machine will only load .38 Special/.357. Nearly everyone these days has gone to the 9mm , 40 S&W and .45 ACP high capacity autos.
You did not say but I assume there are not any extras such as powder slides..etc.

paid from $199 to $325 for the 4 Universals I got

correct no extras, it has a 3.5 gr powder slide in it. I do not know if kosher to mention but I have it in the swappin and sellin forum here. 300 seems like a fair price to me.

I paid $300.00 shipped for a Progresive with a Hulme case feeder. It is in .38 special (of course)

Hi,
Was a little taken aback today at a gunshow when I saw a .38 spl. progressive for $1150! Not in that great of shape either!

I just saw a Star universal Progressive, in .44 sell on ebay for $1435.00. Another, in 9 MM went for $900.00 and another, in .38 special, went for $800.00. I just bought a Star Universal Progressive, in .45 ACP off of ebay, for $435.00. Figure that one out...!

I haven't used my 4 Star Universals in years, just glad I kept them.. Never thought they would ever be worth what they are going for today...
