When reading my load sheet and manual the minimum overall length of 3.15 is the minimum length for the never to exceed load. Does that mean that a shorter than minimum overall length is ok if the load is not at the never exceed load? Right now my length is right at 2.97. and I wonder if this to short.

Any ideas

Thanks

Seating deeper (shorter O.A.L.) will up the pressure. No rule of thumb I know of about reducing loads. Safe bet is to stick with published data. One option if you need a shorter O.A.L. is to use Trail Boss formula as long as you don't compress the powder. Also C.E. Harris's 16 grain 2400 would probably be OK. Wait for others to chime in about that. Your 7.7, like mine, should have a generous leade for longer O.A.L.'s though.

What boolit are you using?

That may help someone fully/correctly answer your inquiry.

Are you using the same weight (or close) bullet/boolit as listed in the manual/load sheet?

i'm guessing the question is about jaxketed.
if you're a grain or so below the max load, and only 18 thou short you should be fine.
