Im trying to figure out what I have. Its a Remington Pump action carbine. Says 44rem or 44wcf. Its pretty rough and I cant find any model number on it. Serial is 45***. Im just wondering what it is or was. Google sucks on this one

Only .44 Mag rifle that I remember Remington making was the 788 and that was a bolt gun. Believe Artful is correct.

You are more likely to run into one of those than a 788 in 44Mag apparently, they are extra rare I have been told.

I was trying to buy one of those Remington pumps a few years ago, I was planning to get the barrel (which was pretty awful) relined to 38/40. I reckon it would have made one helluva fine blackpowder hunting gun. The guy wanted very unrealistic money for it and there was a fool talking through his hat in the background muddying the water. He was keen to display his knowledge, which was severely lacking, but that didn't stop him quoting 'facts and figures' and a whole heap of other BS. The fool had no interest in the rifle, but wouldn't shut up. I could see that any chance I had of beating the guy down to a reasonable figure (I didn't want to rob him, but I didn't want to pay over the odds either), but it was not to be. Shame, they are a nice rifle and apart from a trashed barrel, it was a nice one.

Those Remington 14 and 141s are nice rifles. I WILL have one in .35 Remington one day.

Never new they made it in .44-40. Interesting. I know of a guy who has a 788 in .44 magnum. Shoots suprisingly well, but then, I've never seen a 788 yet that didn't.

I have a Remington 14 1/2 in 44-40, fun gun. It was one of my Uncles favorite deer rifles. Enjoy your rifle, you don't see them often anymore! Here's a pic of mine:

I have seen three or four over the years in Australia, all were 44/40s. An old style Remington pump in 35 Remington would be nice.
