I bought an adjustable ideal mold at auction, 38s 616. I thought it was a smooth mold for paper patch.
Now that I have it in hand, it has no ogive for a point. It cast smooth cylinders from .290" to 1.107" long, and .315 in diameter.
Is this something a swager would use?

Yes, they were made to cast cores for bullet swaging.

315 would be for 8m to 35 maybe 37 caliber if the cores were long enough for a 220-275 gr boolit.

Thanks guys.
I will have to cast some slugs and mic and weigh them to see what I have.
I may get my machinist buddy to turn me a plug with an ogive, if the slugs are of a diameter I can use.
Otherwise, the mold is trading fodder.

I read your post 2 or 3 times and couldn't for the life of me figure out how it was supposed to make different diameters so I asked for a pic. Today I look a the OP and it makes perfect since, don't know how I was misreading it before.
