Most of us quit walking with our thumbs on the ground years ago :^) Good find Corey!

well, I got it melted.
I smelted down and casted some up.I got the mold too hot. the lead was also really hot. could not find my thermometer so I could not test the leads temp. same temp I also run my temp of my lee pot at.
my workshop is are 58 to 60degrees, I stopped casting and try that lead again from good cold start.
took two mins to cool the spur.

finally found my thermometer yeah there is tin alright.

full melt at 450degrees. no wonder I was having so many problems with casting.
other factors, they where 100grs less then the pure lead version (around 70less then ww)
.002 BIGGER then the pure lead

Sounds like you got some high tin content there. Tin is a little more than 2/3 the density of lead, so your boolits will come out light compared to lead; they'll also be harder than straight lead or common casting alloys, and may shrink less due to the lower casting temperature. I don't know what your mold usually casts with pure or wheel weights, but I'd say your ingot was pewter, around 90% or higher tin content. That'd make the 70 cents a pound you paid quite the bargain, given the usual cost of pewter...

somewhere I have seen a chart, or formula to calculate the contents using Specific Gravity
