G C from Lg Rifle and Pistol Primers

Anyone explored using spent Lg Rifle and Pistol primers for gas checks? I posted in another department but wanted to check it out here. I'm going to play with the idea and see where it goes. Appreciate any input or information.

The size of the primer would limit you to .22 and .17 bullet sizes (well, up to .25 if you can find a way to extract Berdan primers from surplus without damaging them), and the primer cup is half again as thick as what's usually used. I'd think you'd need custom molds to make bullets that would accept these as gas checks, which would rather defeat the purpose compared to, say, buying a check maker.

I recall someone using spent .50cal primers for GC's.
