My Turk has an oversized throat and bore. It likes them. Check out the price on this mould at Midway before bidding. Be sure to consider shipping both places.

Blammer,

Go to;

http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/deptsearch2x.asp?dept=RELOADING&dept2=LEAD+BULLET+CASTING

Then go to "Special order molds" and you can get it new for $17 +.

I've used this mold with some success in my Persian Mauser. The throat on my rifle is like new so I have to go to quite a bit of trouble sizing down the nose of this bullet to make it fit but it shoots very well. I size the nose by putting it nose first into an old Lyman .319 sizer die part way.

They show 225 grains but mine throws it's bullet at 250 grains. Mine as cast is .323 on the nose and .327 on the bands.

If the throat of your rifle is a bit worn it may work just great in your rifle.

Have Fun,

JCherry

This mold can be had from Midsouth Shooters Supplies in the special oeder mold section for cheap new. Oldfeller and I designed this mold a long time ago now.

I also noticed they have an 8mm karabiner. Anybody know about that?

Didn't know that one existed. I have a 1893 Turk sporter that that would be ideal for. 18" barrel, generous throat, receiver sight, weighs just a bit over 6 pounds.

thanks

Hey richbug, if you get that karabiner mould from midsouth would you cast me about 5 or so and send em over so i could see if it's what I want?

Not sure if I am going with the Maximum or the Karibiner. I just know I want something bigger than the 175 grain mold, and am too cheap to buy any mold but a Lee.

I have the thing they are now calling 8mm Maximum.

Eh, works ok, but I've not found a gun in my collection yet that does better with it than the Lee 175 gr.

It shoots fine in my 22/98 Czch but you will have to play with it to get it right as the nose is very big, and if you cast it hard it is quite difficult to size and it is to big to go in my rifle un-sized and it needs a GC. mine cast .3295 and 254g with WW and 40/60.

I just remembered, I have an 8mm chamber throater here somewhere. If it doesn't work it can be fixed.

I use it my k98 with good results. Groups with reciever sight run well under 1" at 50yds and stay under 2" at 100 when I do my part. I am running them at 1850fps and know of one buffalo killed with that load. It was a one shot stop that broke the vertebrae of the neck both above and below the entrance.

The nose of the bullet can be reduced to .316 with no problem with a reduction die and it will work in those tight throated rifles. I reduce the nose nose to .316 and then size to .324 on the bands.
