Does anyone have any experience with this 195 gr. round nose? I have a RCBS 35-200-FN that works well in the 357 Herrett and 35 Rem. but I'm looking for a heavy, NON-gas check 35 cal. boolit. to use in the Herrett and a 357 mag Contender (don't have the barrel yet) for IHMSA. Saeco make one very similar to the RCBS, but It's really more than I want to spend, and it would have to be ordered (30 - 90 day wait).
Also, from what I can tell, the fastest loads I've seen for 200 gr. bullets in the 357 mag would be around 1300 fps. I'm guessing that this would make the bullet going transonic somewhere between the pigs and turkeys. I know bullet shape has a lot to do with how well a bullet handles the transition from supersonic to subsonic flight, so how well do heavy round nosed bullets do in this transition?
Or should I just aim for 1100 fps MV so they are subsonic from the start?
