Been having a tough time getting a clean shot at any deer this year. Finally got a shot today at a small buck. Dropped in his tracks. Used the 1 oz. keylock in a cut-down WAA12 wad with Unique powder. Cut the crimp off a Win AA shell and roll crimped it. Worked like a charm. Never knew what hit him. 40 yds. (small spike, for those who care.) Have another permit to fill. Might take one of the pistols with cast loads tomorrow.
Congrats on your success! :drinks:

Very nice. I have never hunted with slug load. I have toyed with doing it just to say I did. I have heard that the slugs really smack em. I can believe it based on the paper targets I have shot with one. They bad feeling on my shoulder.

I've shot lots of small game with home cast boolits. I took an 8 point some years ago with home rolled, but I didn't actually cast the slug; someone else did. I just wish Ohio would let use use rifles (other than BP) on deer. I'd love to try some of my favorite loads on them.

Congrats on a nice harvest. Still called hunting for a reason and not shooting.
