We went 'coon huntin' again last night. This hunt ended with a different twist. HERE'S THE STORY (http://floydpics.wordpress.com/2012/11/28/a-fatal-mistake/).

Looks like you had a good time.
The dogs had a much better time than hanging out at the house also.
The old Possum was the only one who was not doing so great.

The wife and grandkids were riding horses last week when they were out for Thanksgiving. Hope and Harry "The Girls" went along for the ride. They treed a squirrel who for some reason decided to make a run for it on the ground. Another of those Fatal Mistakes you were talking about.

Here's my new tricked out 'coon rifle. It's a Marlin XTR in stainless fitted with a Weaver K-4 in 4X. The light is fastened to the fore end by way of a Weaver base screwed to the stock and a vertically split 30 MM scope ring on the light. I put a thumb screw scope ring on the top of the scope for the camera mount. The camera has a modified Weaver base attached to the bottom.

Pretty cool story and video. I spent many hours in the woods at night with granddad when I was a kid. I loved listening to the dogs work. Thanks for the video and story, it brought back some great memories. I look forward to more more of them since you have that fancy set up on your rifle now.

Best wishes,

Joe

I'll tell ya', Joe, I was very hesitant to post that photo. I figgered I'd never hear the end of the raggin' about my 'mall ninja' 'coon rifle. I'm gonna tell ya' where I've landed, though. If they rag me, it's 'cause they're jealous they ain't got one! :bigsmyl2:

Hey Jim, an Ol'Photographer here, so I just got to ask.

Are you keeping your hat on and down low, use'in dark camo grease on the forehead, or just use'in the forehead as a secondary or bounce flash light source?

Sorry, couldn't resist, not that I tried overly hard.

By the way, great video, wish there was more and longer!

I shoot my videos with a Nikon Coolpix L24 digital camera. I use the light from a 250 lumen pocket size flashlight with the beam set to about half open. That's it. With stills, I use my headlamp to locate the target, set the flash to manual and fire.
