Went to the gun show this past weekend and picked up a dandy model 94 30-30. Got it home slugged the barrel and loaded some ammo. Went to the range with some factory stuff to use in sight adjustment, got the windage in and broke out the good stuff. Grouping with the factory stuff at fifty yards was o.k. about an inch and a half. Some 150 J-words hand loaded a little better... then the good stuff. Some 31141 GC over 28 grains of AA2520 less than an inch for three rounds. No more j's for this one. It's my new favorite lead slinger. Watch out Mr. yote. I need to learn how to post pics.

..............Nice when something like that happens. You need to treasure that rifle!

that sound like a good one, clean that bore real good and remove all the old copper, and it will shoot even better!

Yea, a 30-30 is hard to beat. I just got my M94 back together. The extractor broke and I have not got to use it. Got a new one in and back together last night. I also have a peep sight coming for it at Christmas time. I cant wait for it, I'll be sighting it in and hunting with it the next day hopefully.

I shoot the Lee version of the boolit your shooting and love it. I am burning Varget underneath my boolits though. Still a great shooter though. They are fun guns.

Thanks for the report, Gunny,
I'm going to be picking up an old Mod. 94 in a week or so and your post gives me some idea of what can be expected out of these beauties. Mine's a '02 carbine with a dark bore and a loose stock. I'll let you know how the resurrection goes.

I used to think I didn't like the 30-30. Then I got one. Not much can beat a 94 Winchester in 30-30 for convenient, efficient and fun.
