I will check my sources.

I don't think Herters ever made any powder. Likely it was surplus powder they packaged. If it is ball powder, ball type c would be likely and if it is tubular grain, 4895 or 4831. This is just a guess. There was also 5010 available back then.
Looking for in the 30 calibres. 30/30,308, 30/06, & 300H&H.
Thanks,
Rich

Herter's 100 was their slowest rifle powder. It was actually re-packaged Brigadier 4351. In most cartridges, it burns one to two grains faster than the various 4350s, putting it in the general vicinity of 4064, 4320, or RL-15.
It was a bit slow for almost all the cartridges I load for. The one where it shined was (and still is) my .25-308. It would therefore be a good choice for the .260 or 7-08 as well as for the .30-06. There's still a half-can of it around here somewhere...

I see that this thread expired a few years ago, but in making a search for Herter's 100 powder it came up and is most applicable.
While going through my powder magazine I came across an unopened can of the a fore mentioned Herter's 100 powder. From what Rocky reports, it might just do pretty well in my 270 Winchester with jacketed bullets. Anyone else have any experience with it?

Wish I had some to go with my Herter's primers!
