Purchasing a mold set that will drop .513 850gr boolits, can the star accomodate that big of a chunk. I have a star that I havent begun using yet as my shop is not ready but I would like to hear from someone who has done this. Gonna be using GCs from blammer on the base.

Hi Mike, I don't have anything personally that shoots that big of a chunk of lead, but I've made a few dies for guys who do. For such a huge chunk of lead, it all depends on how much bearing surface you have, and the distance between the top and bottom lube grooves. If this distance is less than .550 or so, you should be able to use your Star.

Atom-I'm on the .513 850 group buy as well, and already have one of the Lathsmith dies in hand. It was made to Swede's drawing, looks great, and should work. I'm looking forward to using it.

I'm in the same boat. I'll have to slug my barrel before I order a die/punch set, though. I'll use a modified Lee for sizing those down for paper patching experiments (I don't plan on doing many patched loads).

My Star will not size my .50 cal. LBT bullets, they are hard cast and I would bend the handle trying.
