Convert H&R from extractor to ejector?

I have an H&R in .223. Is it possible to convert the extractor mechanism to eject?

Me-thinks it would be difficult with a rim-less round.

I have some vague memory of hearing the extractor mechanism could be adapted with a spring to eject the case on opening. If the extractor pushes the case head out on opening, why would it not eject if modified?

I had one of the ejectors in a 223. Sometimes it worked, most times it did not. That was why they went to the extractors.
