Managed to absolutely cover my mold in lead - faces; cavities; pins: long story.
How do I go about getting it spotless again?
Any help - practical or otherwise welcome.

set it back into the melting pot until the lead melts off and then take it out of the pot and then give it a good scrubbing after it cools off with a copper scrub brush.

If your mold is aluminum or brass I wouldn't recommend a copper brush. Copper is much harder than aluminum and still harder than brass.

My apologies. I was thinking of an iron mold.

Get it hot enought for most of the lead to drip off and them rub it with a leather glove on your hand. If there are still spots of lead that keep the mold from closing completely, use a wooden toothpick to push them off. If you keep it hot while working on it, it is usually very easy to get the lead off.
