This video taping stuff can get addictive!

Here is a 200 gr GCFP out of my 35 Rem Contender vs 8 1 gallon jugs of water at 25 yards.

Notice the bullet exits the back jug before the front two really start to come apart.

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE

Makes a feller wonder why the barely adequate small 35's can kill a deer at all[smilie=1: .

on the "oh what a day" thread is the target I shot and the load data details.

amazing what 10 gr of Unique can do!

I call it a plinking load but I bet it'd be good enough for deer!

Apparently there are several less than sharp axes in the tool shed today.....I could have used the instructions myself....

Absolutely text book. First two exploded. That's all that deer will see / feel. Then I set those on out to see how far I can continue to produce that action. That determines my maximum range with that combo. Just would be nice to have video to take the subjectivity out of it.

I don't know what your range was, but at 50 yards, you would have to move your camera back lest you wanted it to have a bath and maybe get hit with jug parts.

I love 35s. Everything you want (need) to deliver from one end without too much from the other.

camera was about 12-15 feet back.

alas, i won't be able to do anything with the camera at longer range because

1) the delay you saw at the start of the video was me running back to the gun setup to shoot... probably won't have enough 'film' to do that at 50 yards (as it's a camera that I'm using not a video recorder, not enought memory)

2) I can't shoot at 50 yards in my back yard there, too many trees...

Ah Come on Blammer. I'd be willing to kick in a buck for a set of Nikes or whatever.

That is the joke I play with newbies at our range when they start talking smack about magnum this or cast bullet that.

We have a berm that they can stand behind that is 50 feet to the right. Helps for lining in rifles. I tell them go out and just WATCH the power. You can't believe all the laughter and snide comments it generates. I just give them the line that I can't tell where I'm hittin.

With one shot .... I soak'em and then a couple of seconds later the dirt from the back stop rains down on them.

When they come back up range their eyes look like silver dollars and no more laughter out of them after that.

Yeah, everyone knows that the outtakes are the funniest parts of the movie. Thank goodness for DVD's.
