I was at the scrap yard yesterday getting rid of some junk brass. I was looking around at the stuff they had. In this box marked "cast" was a bunch of pot metal fixtures when something caught my eye. It was a water pitcher. I grabbed it an looked on the bottom an sure enough it had a London England hallmark. I looked around in the box a little and found a flask and some kind of measuring cup. I got them for $1.25:grin:

They weighed 5 lbs. I took them home and melted them down into ingot. Now a question. These ingots appear to be a yellow color to them. Are they supposed to be like this? Also the ones I did into the SS cups from Walmart have like a crystalline surface to them. They are all sparkly. Did I get them too hot?

I bought some pure tin mini muffin ingots on the forum last year. They are gold tinted and have a crystalline surface too. Sounds like you have some high-tin alloy there.

These are some ingots I just recently cast from modern food service pewter.
