I want to get one 4cav mold for my .303 and 7.62x54 to raise production. Most of the guy's I shoot with buy boolits of me and I need to be quicker with casting.I want a round nose or pointed for easy feeding as the shells will be single loaded and mag fed.Is there any suggestions as to which mold to buy.150-180 would be the best weight. I vote for the NEI #70. I have it in a six cavity and its a joy to use. In WW they will drop at about .314" and 165gn. I use them in the SKS, Mosin Nagant, and the Britt and its never been fussy in any of them. Kind of a semi round nose gas check that feeds well from anything I have tried it in. I have had this one for a dozen or so years and no regrets on that purchase. In the long Russian and the Britt full power loads usualy shoot to the sights.

Is that described as a .311" Boolit by NEI 311-154-GC?

NEI say that their moulds will cast 1-3 thou over stated diameter, do you know if thats their tolerances or an alloy allowance?

I'm interested in a six holer but if I got one that dropped .312 then that would be too small for my needs.

Yes that would be the one. All my NEI molds, and there are many, drop .002" to .003" over the listed diameters with WW base alloys.

I have an older, 4 cavity model of that mold that is stamped 154 311 GC and it's boolits drop .3022" nose, .3103" first band, and .3115" bottom band when using WW. It really does well in my 7.5 Swiss K-31. -JDL

Wow thats interesting. Of the several Swiss k-31 rifles we tried they wouldnt accept anything close to that large a nose diameter. Our are all on the tight side in both bore and groove.
The mold I have was made by Walt but still should have been made with the same cherry as yours.
If anyone would like to try an as cast sample I will supply some. I will God willing try to find an unsized sample today and see just how fat it is. I know I have used it with good results in an order of 30 long Russian carbines that most had grooves on the high side of .312"

Yeah, know what you mean, mines just shy of .300" but, I seat so just about .010" of nose is engraved. I even tried a 31141 that has a .299" nose but, it still was too large, so I went with the NEI with the shorter nose that won't protrude below the neck. -JDL

Thanks jeff I was testing the water to find if anyone had feeding problems or the like as many rifles won't feed flat nose or different length boolits from original. The pygmy's commin'!!!!!! Pat

MMMM! looks as though there could be a chance of this bullet being undersize for me needs although stil within NEIs stated speccy.

Any one have any experience of NEI No. 82 313-122-GC or the No. 83 313-165-GC?

I'm looking for a lighter bullet around 135 gns or so for a load to use on an indoor range.
