I have some new Lapua brass for 6.5 grendle. I didn't like how some primers seated so I go out my decapper... The flash holes were very small. So small that after popping 2 primers out, the pin on my decapper came loose and lodged in the flash hole!

Any special tool for these small holes, and this is my first Lapua brass in Grendle. Is this a mistake, or are they all small holes like this?

Thanks.

Some Lapua brass, such as the 6MM Lapua (BR), is manufactured with a small flash hole. Apparently the 6.5 Grendel is as well. Some die manufacturers such as Redding produce a smaller diameter decapping pin specifically for this brass. IIRC they are .060" diameter.

Regards,

Tony

I guess I'll be ordering it. Thanks!

Sinclair also makes a special tool to ream these small flash holes to a larger diameter - larger enough that a standard decapping pin works.
