Hey everyone. I have been using the MOLD DC 311-100-2R for my CZ-82. Has anyone had trouble getting this mold to fill out. I have had the worst luck getting crisp sharp bottoms on this mold. Does anyone have any other suggestions for a mold for a CZ-82

Thanks

Make sure you've gotten all the machining coolant/lubricant residue out of the cavities, don't get mold lube into them, and then run the mold (and/or your alloy) hotter. I have TL314-100-SWC and C309-180-R molds, both fill perfectly even when the mold is cool enough to produce wrinkled boolits. If you get hot enough to get frosty boolits and the sprue takes longer than about 15 seconds to harden, and you're still getting incomplete fill, the next thing to try is adding a small amount of tin (say, 1%) to your existing alloy; that should improve fill out without much effect on hardness.

I use RD- 311-75 s in my 32's these days. I am a big fan of the RCBS 32-98-SWC, but it is more for revolvers. I have a 4 cavity SAECO that casts a 98 grain RN boolit, but for my 32 autos, I prefer a lighter boolit.
A general problem that I have had with the 32 boolits is getting the molds hot enough. There is relatively little metal going into the mold each time you cast and you have to cast really fast to keep good boolits dropping out.

I'd try something closer to .365".

Um, maybe in a CZ-83 chambered for 9x18, but they also make them in 7.65 aka 32 acp. Neat 15 rounders, albeit a bit on the large side for the caliber. My brother in Texas bought one a few years back and was happy with it, until the 9 mm bug hit him and he sold it to buy a Ruger.

I've got a copy of the mold, and the one I had didn't want to make nice crisp bases either. I relieved the top of the blocks ever so slightly to aid in venting, and viola, perfect bases every time.

There are threads here about how to relieve the blocks to increase venting for the bases, so I won't needlessly repeat the info here. Just remember, go slow, it doesn't take much to make it work, and only slightly more to ruin the mold.

Yes sir, the CZ83 was chambered in .380 acp, .32 acp and 9x18 (very limited production), but the CZ82 was only chambered in 9x18, and that ain't no .311.
