Guys,
I am looking at getting one of these (in fact the only one available in the UK!).
I already have the 44 mag and shoot the Lyman 429421 from a 4 cavity and they work well. Waiting on GB moulds for different styles.
I only do target shooting, more or less everything we used to do with pistols is now done with underlevers.
I am hoping some of you guys can tell me which bullets work best in the 41 as the twist is quite different to the 44. I tried some 330 grainers I use in my Vetterli in the 44 but they wouldnt stabilise.
Forgot to say that in competition we do shoot these out to 300 yards.
Additionally if any one has a 4 cavity or Lee GB mould in 41 they want to sell let me know. Prefer no gas check design.
Look forward to your replies:drinks:

I shoot 215 and 230 lead in my Marlin using either unique or 4756 and have had good results. Also use red dot for a light load for plinking. I have not shot mine past 200 yards and have not found a load to reach 200 yards. My loads fall about ten yards short so far. Accuracy short of that has been good.

I've tried the 230gr Keith type bullets from Leadhead and worked up to maximum quantities of H110. My Marlin shoots these better then anything else I have tried so far, including factory loads. These are max loads and probably not suitable for high volume target work. Less then max amounts of H110 are not nearly as accurate, so don't let that bother you too much as you proceed to work up your load.

The load I use for target shooting in my hand guns also works pretty well in the Marlin. That is a 210gr lead SWC plain base, and 7.8gr Unique. This is a more comfortable load for higher volume shooting. Bowing pins go away in a hurry when hit with one of them.:Fire:

Good shooting,

My Marlin is one that originally was a straight grip .44 Mag. I had Marlin rebarrel it to .41 Mag and I love it. However, it does not like Keith type SWC boolits.

I ended up getting a Lyman 41028 mould and these feed real slick.
Most of my cast are powered by Green Dot.

I'll add a boost for this bullet - it makes an accurate and usable load with 9.0 gr. UNIQUE.
A full power load would be around 19.0 gr. H-110, but I have an NEI mould which casts a 240 gr. truncated-cone bullet which I use with the H-110 load. The heavier bullet also seems to allow the H-110 to burn better, although I may be imagining that.

I have a pair of Marlin 1894's in 41 MAG .

The first I got was the 1894FG and last year about this time I picked up a LNIB 1894CCL .

But I have yet to shoot a cast bullet in either :???:

I have the Lyman 210 grain GC mould , but there is a fitting issue with this mould and the Hornady 416 gas check.

6pt-sika, Lyman made .41 gas checks, although I don't know if they are still available. This was before the .416 caliber became readily available in rifles. The plainbase bullets are definitely less problem. I never liked the shape of that Lyman GC bullet, although I did pick up a mould for it somewhere. You can shoot them without GC with the 9 gr. UNIQUE load.

Gator makes the correct size 41 cal checks. You *just* missed the GB that included them.

Thanks very much for all your replies guys.
I am liking very much the H110 loads as that is what I have been using behind a 240 J word silhouette in my 44 for 300 yard shooting.
Particularly interested in the Lyman 41028,I will have to look out for one.
Just put the wheels in motion to try and get the 41 marlin.I wont bore you with the red tape involved but it may well take a few months to do!
Cheers chaps.

I picked mine up on Ebay some time back. I probably paid too much ($56) , but that's what I wanted and it was my money. I don't regret getting it.
