I would like to find some loads for bp and buckshot slugs too. New to shot gun reloading, so any advice? Plan to use an old single shot 12gauge cut down barrell to 18.5 inch, might get chokes put in it? I dont plan on hunting with this just for fun. Might try to shoot some trap with 00 just for s@g.:bigsmyl2:

Get yourself some card wads and fiber cushion wads. For BP loads, I'd start around 75 grains for FFG and 1 1/4 oz shot loads and work up to around 90 gr. FFG increasing/decreasing the wad column as necessary for a good crimp. If you can't find the wads anywhere locally, you can always order them from Circle Fly.

I load my Black powder shot shells in all brass hulls for several reasons. They allow me to load a good wad column in addition to 2 3/4 drams of FFg and 1 1/8 OZ. of shot (or 9 #00s) I glue a thin card over the shot using Elmer's glue. The cases get washed out afterwards then a trip through the tumbler to clean.

Here is the easy system,
Win AA hull
Win 209 primer
Lyman dipper set at 1 1/8 ounce and dip that volumn of FF black powder
Win AA Red wad
Same lyman dipper of shot
Crimp start and final crimp as normal.

Use the hull only ONCE, but they are plentiful.

Yes, the felt, horsehair, and card wads are better?????
Yes, the brass hulls last over and over.
But this load is great for shooting and having fun and hunting

54320You may use the plastic wads that are sold by Ballistic Products and Precision Reloading. The plastic wads are the ones made for the 2 1/2 inch English guns of old.
The Remington Green STS and the Gold Nitro 27 hulls are some of the best to use. I trim off the old crimp and load about 65-70 grains of 2F and then put in your shot until it is about 1/8 of a inch short of the mouth. Insert a over shot wad and then use a roll crimper in a drill press on a slow speed or a had drill may be used. The drill press will give better results.
