500 s & w question ?

Has anyone ever tried loading the 500 with sabots, i'm thinking about useing them with lighter bullets and using Trailboss powder, what could the down side be.

how light are you wanting to go? 350 is already pretty light. I think I even have some 325s that somebody gave me. Nope-360s. Buddy of mine gave me some Speer 300 HPs just a few weeks ago.

Are you just wanting to go light with a longer boolit?

If you are just wanting to reduce recoil. That can be done simply changing the powder.
I don't know how to use Trailboss so can't help you there.

I shot some sabots using .429 boolits out of my Encore pistol. I wanted a high speed load more than a slow load. I don't remember the particular powder/load (probably unique) I used but it was surprisingly accurate out to 100 yards. Minute of clay. I lost interest before I loaded anymore than the original 15 that I made. I do know that the 5 I made with lubed boolits were horribly inaccurate. I had 5 super pointy .44's out of a custom mold and that I wanted to try and they were already sized/lubed.


I use a Lee 50 cal improved mini Hollow base over trail boss for a slow speed load.
