To me if I was in the market for a 2 cavity 358156 Lyman mold and it had IDEAL marked on it I would consider 50.00 dollars. I think the Ideal molds are a step better than the later made and marked Lyman molds.........Terry

Does he own a .38? Cast up and lube a bunch of boolits for him. Load them if he doesn't. You will have a friend for life.

I'd give him $20 and a LOT of cast boolits for his firearms. :)

A 358156 with IDEAL on it is worth every dime ya think it is , 50 is fair & what Blammer suggested is fair .

But it`d be worth more if it was barebottomed or hollow pointed (think hard before altering a vintage mold)

Here`s a Lyman 358156 & a Lyan 357446 altered by our own Buckshot ,with no regrets !

A friend has a 2 cav 358156 (I'm not sure if it is Ideal or Lyman) that he paid $20 for. Him and I considered that to be a smoking deal. I would probably go the $20 + tons of boolits route, depending on his financial situation. He would probably enjoy 1k+ boolits more than $50.

Why are plain base boolit molds worth more than gc'd? I recently bought a 4 cav Lyman 357446 with nutcracker handles for $75 shipped... Something tells me I got a pretty good deal, after reading this thread.

Just bought a 358156 from a fine member on this forum for 45.00 plus shipping. Like almost-new and mostly pristine condition..... I berlieve the GC's are less expensive because it takes a little more to make them shootable, as opposed to plain-base molds? Just my theory.

$20.00 PLUS boolits to shoot seems a good deal for both of you. If he insists on no cash, then more boolits..... Nice mold. Enjoy it.

Lots of good replies guys. He doesnt need the money, he acquired a butt load of firearms, gunsmithing, reloading supplies oh my you name it from his grandfathers passing and he just slowly weeds out the non-centimental goodies and sells them off to folks who may have a need for them. He sure does appreciate the .45 boolits I cast for him and i know he will be tickeled with the .35 boolits as well from this mold. I think $35 and a supply of 358156's ought to be a nice return.

12D, you seem like a nice fella and would rightly make a good friend. way to go! Wish I had friends like you. Actually, I don't have many friends at all (moved around A LOT and have been a manager for 20+ years-limits friends at work) so I am always happy to do business with guys from this forum. Treat me exponentially better than most folks' "friends", you know?

You might also want to think about whether offering him money will insult him as it sounds like you already do a lot back for him by giving him bullets, maybe when he gave it to you he felt he was paying back some for all that you do for him.

In the end you know him better then any of us here so it is up to you, but I think I would just keep doing what you been doing and help him by giving bullets, helping reload or whatever else you do for him.
