Probably a dumb one but here goes-
I've been casting 30 cal boolits for 30-30 using the RCBS 82019 150g FN mold (.309). I want my finished boolits to be .311. Will running them through the RCBS 311 sizer die increase the diameter for me? Or do sizer dies only decrease the diameter?

Thank you for indulging me

yes they only decrease diameter-

But---

If the alloy is soft enough you can bump it up.The problem is its hard to control where the bullet will swell and how hard to push.On the other hand if you use washers above the die as spacers you can control the depth of the bump somewhat.it will eventually break your press linkage it done too much(mine lasted baout two years and 3000 bullets before it had to be welded) but if the bullet is too small bumping it up can improve accuracy.Or for about $30-40 send the mold to hollowpoint mold service and he will open the bands up for you.

Generally sizer dies only decrease the boolit size.

Beagle the mould or use a harder (more antimony) alloy for increases in diameter.

Bumping in the size can also increase diameter, mainly used for increasing nose diameter on bore riding boolits.

Do a search of the site for more detailed instructions for Beagling and bumping.

search this site for "beagling".

That was the question that brought me to Cast Boolits. I couldn't figure how the Lyman Sizer was going to make the bullets from the Lyman Mold any bigger. Surely Lyman had this all worked out.....
