Does anyone have any experience with one of these?

Does it load like a pump shotgun?

Pro's and Con's?

Cut rifling....... and more importantly is it a good cast shooter?

other than being made like a shotgun, I think they look GREAT!

but I have heard both good and bad about them.

just missed one a few weeks ago with a 18.5" barrel. would make a FABULOUS carry gun!

Mine shoots real well, it does have a problem with it not wanting to unlock the slide after firing unless the forend is held such that you're exerting forward pressure on it when it fires. It is heavy for a .30-30 in my opinion.

They load in a tubular magazine underneath like a shotgun, which also means it needs blunt bullets like a lever gun.

Mine shoots <1" groups at 50 yards with lead. Richhodg66 hit it pretty good with the pumping. Not the best gun ever made but I do like shooting it and taking it for hikes. Mine likes the 311041 and imr 3031.

Run away as fast as you can. I worked at a Savage warranty station while the were being produced. Junk doesn't begin to properly describe them. To those who have them and they work, I wouldn't be buying any lottery tickets, your lucks been used up.
