Can anyone identify what is on these bullets? It feels like some sort of plastic coating. When my grandfather passed away my grandmother gave me his S&W model 10 and a couple boxes of these 38's. Forgot to make note of case MFG but I'm pretty sure they are reloaded.
The charge weighed out at 2.7 and it appeared to be Bullseye. They are extremely accurate.

Nylon similar to Federal Nyclads.

IIRC Nyclad projectiles first came from S&W ammunition back in the 1970's, but I do not know if they were ever available as components.

Nyclad projectiles from S&W... I still have some laying around from when I was in the ammo reloading business... Bought them directly from S&W...

They were, at one time, anyway. I got these a while ago after reading Dean Speir on rec.guns constantly talking about the Chief's Special load. I forget how much they cost, only that it seemed like a lot, even compared to jacketed bullets.
