I just found this company that makes 16 gauge slug moulds.

http://www.henselgmbh.de./

Has anyone used these?

I am thinking that this may have potential for a group buy, but my German is pretty rusty.

I couldn't even wade around and find the mould so your German is better than mine. Swede Nelson speaks (or types at least) English, maybe he'd be better to get a group buy done by?

I found the molds but if my exchange calculations are correct one of those molds would be $175 plus .

Pretty steep.
I just found some commercially loaded 16 gauge slugs for a good price, so I feel no need to run out and spend that sort of money in the future.

My company is actually negotiating with them right now to see if we can get a half-decent wholesaler price. If we do we'll be selling them in Canada by late-Winter/early-Spring.

You're right about the prices though, pretty steep indeed.

Depends on what you are looking for in a slug. 0.662" round ball moulds are standard and are bore size for 16 ga. ~ if you don't have a choke ~ and they weigh 1 oz. in pure lead so a little under in wheelweights.

I have had good results with 12 ga. bore size RB loads, better than most Foster style slugs for sure.

I cast .600, .640 and .662 rb.
With my choke a .610 would be probably perfect for smacking island blacktails.

Mostly I was intrigued that someone was making a slug mould for the 16.

Price now for 5 of them from Federal is about $5 !

Still not bad I think .

The Federals shoot nicely in my 16 gauge drilling .

So store bought slugs run $1 apiece.
Wads $0.03 (@$15/500)
Primers $0.03 (@$3/100)
Powder $0.05 (28gr@$25/lb)
Lead $0.07 (1oz@$1/lb)
Hulls $0.12 ($0.10each plus $8 shipping/400)
Total $0.30 each
Saved $0.70 per cartridge.
So with prices stated after about 250 slugs I've broke even ($175/0.70), depending on powder charge and component prices and if I did my math right.
