I'm thinking about a new cartridge. As the title says, what can anyone tell me about them for shooting cast? I know nothing about them.

I have shot the 30BR on and off or 15 years. The std 30 BR works very well.No need for the extra capacity.Brass from Lapua and Norma is available and easy to make.If i had another cut i wouldn't make the neck dimensions as tight as i had my first chambers were to cut down on so much neck turning.A 1-12 twist works well for cast.Go over the CBA forum and ask the guys who are currently competing with them.I dont get mine out as much lately and my info is probably not up to date with current BR accuracy stuff."PatI" is sometimes here is a good source for info.

The .30 BR is considered by many to be the most accurate cast bullet cal. using fixed ammo. and is the fav. for cast bullet benchrest competition. Case cap. is considered optimal for .30 caliber cast bullets, mine has been my most accurate rifle right from the outset. My rifle has 1-12`twist and even shoots a 230 grain very accurately...target or hunting, this is the ultimate cartridge for our kind of shooting.

What do you guys think of the 5R rifling? I really like Mike Rock barrels. I have had a few of them and they are awesome. My last one was for a 308 win with the military twist of 1-11.27" It shot the 175 MK into the .2s off of a bi-pod. Was thinking of ordering another blank from them.

My 30 BR'S have Shilen and Douglas Barrels-i have never used a 5R for cast.I doubt a 1-11.27" would be much difference over a 1-12.
