Hi all;
I have acquired a Remington model 788 in 308 cal. Just the receiver and barrel. I have found all of the missing parts, except for the trigger guard and the rear guard screw.
I have run out of places to look for these parts. I want to put this action on a after market stock and shoot cast in it.
My question is there a similar guard screw and trigger guard that I can adapt to use as replacement parts with some hand work.
Any help would be welcome and appreciated.

I'd have to get mine out of the safe, but I seem to recall the trigger guard being a pretty simple piece of sheet metal, if it's that hard to find, it shouldn't be difficult to fabricate one.

Haven't seen a 788 yet that wasn't a good shooter. Good luck with it.

thanks
I found the screw on Wisners website, I will send a email or give them a call and see if they can fine the trigger guard.
Thanks again

Good luck with your 788. I love mine in 308. I put a Timney trigger in it and it is a very accurate shooter. Used it on pigs in Texas.

Trigger guard is cheap piece of stamped metal, you can make one yourself if need be.
I had one of those "Roundtuit" plans for a triggerguard/floorplate for a 788 I had.

Good find on that 788, they can be a real sleeper. I think mine's the ugliest rifle in my safe, but one of the best shooters too.

They do benefit from some trigger work; if you have a smith who's handy, this might help:
