Won't be casting for .45acp for a while...

Well, I went to the Tulsa Gunshow today. Got a couple really good deals. First off I grabbed two wilson combat magazines for my RIA for $30 a piece. But the better deal, and I can't believe I pulled it off, 1000rds of .45acp for $200 dollars. Its Blazer Brass 230g FMJ. But heck, you just about can't buy the brass for that cost. So I jumped on it without hesitation.

The only problem was carrying it out to the car through the crowd....

Yeah, I was very excited to get that deal. Once I run out of that, 3-4 months from now, it'll be just perfect timing for me to start pressing boolits. ;)

A good 1k run through the RIA and it will broke in and shooting great.

And... that brass is very nice brass for reloading. I have tons of it in 9mm.

Is the brass for large pistol primers or small? Remember to watch for that crazyness.

It's for large pistol... I wish it was for small pistol. Thats just about the only primers I carry. Small pistol and small rifle. It would make it so much easier for loading.

If you get some of the crazy high priced "non toxic" .45acp ammo, it will take small pistol primers. Many years ago, some foreign surplus .45acp ammo used small primers too, but I haven't seen any of that stuff in well over 20 years.

If you post in the swapping & selling part of the board that you are looking for small primer .45 acp brass, I expect that you will find several people who will be willing to part with it. For a lot of people, it just causes trouble when a stray one clogs up their progressive press. With the price that you paid for that ammo, you would probably do well if you offer to trade some of the ammo for small primer brass. That might be a good deal for both parties.

Hey JD,

You might want to double check the primer size on those Blazers. I recently came into a 5 gal bucket (64 lbs) of range brass and sorted it all out. Of the 45s I ended up with about half and half large and small. However I didn't find a single Blazer that was large primered. I think I ended up with maybe 900 Blazers, and they are all small primered.
