This morning was the first day of our 2 day youth season. We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity at this young buck.

Must say my son sure did well. He saw the deer before me. He looked at him awhile before deciding to shoot (I think he was hoping for a bigger buck).Asked me what I thought. I told him better shoot. temps here are suppose to be unseasonably warm this after noon and the next few days. This morning was cool and our best chance most likely. IIRC this is #4 for him so far he is 4 for 4. That is better than my track record.

Very nice! There is no greater joy than a kid getting to hunt with his father, i feel blessed to still hunt with my dad and know your son is lucky to have a dad that'll take him! And i must commend both you and him, for his shooting skills certainly are not an accident! Congratulations on a hunt well lived!

First off, outstanding. Love seeing the young hunters, doubly so you taking him.

"His age, caliber? "

He is 14 1/2 and that is a 7mm mag. He has been hunting with me since he was 6 or 7 (not being the shooter but coming with). I bought him a 243 when he was 11 that he used until this year. this year we were talking about some of the other guns I had and he wanted to shoot some of them. He shot many including my 444 and the 7mm. He liked the 7mm and kind of claimed it for his own.

Excellent! Deer and turkey youth hunts were always good to my son when he was young.

4 for 4, start calling him sir. I'll be glad in a couple of years when hunters as good as he is will hunt the regular season so there will be bucks left for us old cogers.;) Does he participate in the dragging chores? Congrats
