I went to the metal recyclers yard today and picked up 100 lbs. of lead sheeting like they would use for x-ray rooms. I paid .83 cts. a pound. I left behind about 500 lbs. would it be worth it to go get the rest.

Unless you run into great deals and free buckets of wheel weights I would say yes! check out the Vender section, most lead is going for $1.00 plus a pound.

I agree. Not a great price but not bad either. If you don't use the dead soft lead like this, get it and offer it for trade for something harder. I would gladly trade pound for pound range scrap, already processed, (may still need a little cleaning but in ingot form) for dead soft.

Given that's near-pure soft lead and most of 15% below spot lead price, if you can afford it it'd be a great deal to grab the other 500 lbs. Might see if they have any scrap solder while you're there, for tin content...

it's 100% useable lead,no trash to deal with or stuff to clean out and throw away.
plus it's dead soft.
easily traded,and alloyable.
oh, and it's available.
