hi,have a small problem with finding out how much power(watts) a dillon 1200 trimer would use so i could buy a stepdown transformer here in australia to power it . our power is 240 volts ,the trimmer i have is 110v american to a 12 volt dc motor. i have been searching the net and most sites dont give a watt rating but say to buy a bigger transformer to kick the motor off is better at the very start and then keep runing the motor.$60 will buy a 300 watt transformer $250 will buy a 2400 watt, i dont want to buy a under size transformer and damage the motor, hope you guys can help thanks rip

I don't have the trimmer, but just calling out that I have a "KILL A WATT" meter. You plug an electrical device into it, and it will show the wattage of the item. Anyone in northern CA have a case trimmer, we can get together and get Riptear an answer!

I have 2 trimmers and I can't find anything about wattage on them.

Anyone ask Dillon?

One Horsepower is 746 watts. I highly doubt that the trimmer motor is anywhere near a 1/2 horsepower.
The motor on my Ultra-vibe 18 case cleaner was 1/10 or 1/5 Hp.
Call Dillon and ask what is needed. I am sure they have heard the question before.

Amps x volts = watts...Robin

The tag on mine says: 1/4 HP, 2.6 Amps, 115 Volt.

So... using the equations above... about 300 watts. I'm sure there is a spike during start up, so I would error on the high side.

What say you electrical geniuses? :-)

Initial surge I would concur. Probably a 400-500 watt should work.
