I was reading a few weeks ago that someone thought Lee had changed the nose shape of their 300gr. mold compared to those of past years. I have the 255gr. rnfp 6 banger, but the meplat is smaller in real life compared to the picture. Do you fellas know if the 2 cavity mold casts a meplat like it shows in their product catalog, or is it smaller just like the 6 banger. Thanks.

The 300 grainer looks pretty much the same as the picture in their catalog. The meplat on mine measures .360"

How old is that mold, and how many cavities is it? I will try and post a picture sometime soon of a boolit made out of my mold so you can see what I am talking about.

It's a two cavity, and I have had it for 5-6 years.

I know what you mean about the actual bullets not being an exact copy of the pictures. The 452-228-1R is another one that differs slightly in appearance.

Does anyone know if the 255 grain boolit suffers from the same problem as the 300 grainers? Thanks.

I picked up a .452-255-RF , two cavity a few months back from Midway. It has a smaller meplat than the one shown in the 2006 LEE catalog I have.

Dang, I like the one in the catalog better.

I liked the looks of the boolit in their catalog too, that's why I picked it up. I realize that the boolits I'm making now will still kill deer just as dead, and shoot just as good, I just was hoping for the wider tip like they show:roll: . Oh well...I might have to paypal some money in for the hammer mold quick.
