Went out today and shot this little critter. Saw antlers and thought that a little spike buck might be tasty. This was the 5th day of hunting without seeing anything. Surprised a bit when this little spike buck turned out to be a doe. The antler is covered in hair but I could not see that at the range I shot it. The old 35 Remington knocked it off its feet. Never seen one before like it.

Weird stuff happens! She'll be real tasty.
.35 cal is a great cartridge, a deer slayer. Congrats.

That does it! I've had enough! I'm taking my .35 hunting this year! Love that rifle, love the cartridge but she's spent both seasons since I bought her cooped up in the safe. Just need to figure out how to load that RD boolit to her liking.

I had a friend that had his 8 point doe mounted. (white tail)
I knew a gal that shot a mule deer doe with a pretty good rack on it. (the doe that is)

Good shootin. My remington model 8 35 did that a few years ago too. Great old round! It's nice to start seeing deer up here in the north country again.

I live a South of Roseau, as most folks living in the USA do, near Bemidji. I usually get a deer on my own place but this year I did not see a thing. Plenty before season but they seemed to have found an underground shelter. Got this one on the inlaws place. At one time we could buy up to five antlerless permits, now we have a lottery for antlerless and only are allowed one deer.
I suspect that the doe was sterile (that or too ugly) as there she was alone and there was no sign of a nursing fawn in the udder. May talk to the DNR and ask about that.

I'm about 25 miles south east of Roseau, but still closer to Canada than most!Deer numbers here are better. Opening morning sounded a lot more normal for a change. And there's been some dandy bucks shot! The last few years of TB shooting hurt us bad, but I'm seeing deer again anyway! Hoping to get out this weekend and fill my tag. We're down to two tags, I bought one, the last few years each person could shoot five. Good to see the ol' 35 did it's job again for ya!

Congratulations on your, doe. Big fan of the .35 Remington and got four of them. I'm a .35 caliber kind of guy as I have a .350 Rem Mag, two 35 Whelens, three .358 Winchesters, and two
.357 Magnum rifles.

Always thought the 358 would be a good caliber to play with but never found a rfle to my liking. My 35 Marlin has a 24" inch barrel and I jumped on it as soon as I saw it. Darn thing is almost as old as I am which ads to the pleasure of using it. I scored on this buck last rear and really would have liked to see another, but as I said I was out about 5 days in a row without seeing a hair and was getting hungry.

northmn,
I have a rechambered Remington 760 carbine, a custom Remington 700 short action, and a Ruger Hawkeye blued/wood stocked, all in .358 Win. The 760 carbine is by far my favorite. Where I hunt deer it's hilly and thick. My longest shot to date on 38 Whitetails was 126yds. I
load the RP 200gr RNCL as my deer load. I load to 2450 to 2500fps and it's a real thumper on our skinny Whitetails. With more and more hunting being done on public lands and it seems an
orange vest behind every other tree, the .358 Win gives me certain DRT kills. I like your Marlin
336A!! I have a bunch of Marlin 336SC's in both 35 Rem and 32 Win Special. I like the look of the
shorter magazine tube. If you handload you can easily achieve 2300fps with a RN bullet using LVR
powder. Not too far behind my .358's as loaded by me. Of course, there are no flys in the factory
loaded .35 Remington!

May try to get some LVR powder but as you say the factory loads ain't all bad. Been shooting them a bit to get the brass for reloading. After dressing out the smaller deer I was amazed at the damage done as it went through her lengthwise. About the only reason I would speed the load up would be to extend the range slightly. Always read that the 35 was a good deer/bear caliber and am finding it to be true.
