If its Magnum shot it is usually a has a high antimony content. Do a site search as others have answered this question in the past. I'm at work at the present time or I'd get a linky for ya.

We use shells made by Combined Tactical of Jamestown, Pa. They make theirs using #9 lead shot. I believe they use 1oz. of this shot. I will check when I get to the station.

I can get lots of them from the range.
I just wanted to know if I could use them to cast boolets from.

Magnumlead shot is about 5% antimony (it will heat treat to a BHN 42). I think, though I may be wrong that chill shot has less antimony. Otherwise it would be "Magnum" too.

Could I just this to cast or should it be mixed?????
I normally use WW. Sometimes I get lead from the range and mix with the WW.

It may be some soft. Even the magnum shot would be a little soft (maybe BHN #10 just a guess) if it was not heat treated. I'd try it half and half with wheelweights, then test it for hardness air cooled, and then heat treated. This would give you an idea how much antimony it had. If you can't test/ get it tested, it will tell you if it has enough to harden. Half and half ww/ pure is a pretty good alloy already. If your shot has antimony in it you may end up diluting it all again.

I heat treat anyway, so I'll try some.
I have a Lee hardness tester. Haven't used it much.
