View Full Version : 275 Grain RF .454 dia group buy

Willbird
07-21-2005, 09:11 AM
We can schedule this one to fit in with the other irons in the fire, but how many would be interested in the RF design to cast 275 grains and .454 in WW alloy ??

Timing is enterily up to group consensus

OK, I'm interested, but before I jump in again, I need to know about how many $$.$$ to come up with and how long I have to do it. Also if this will be 45 2.1's design, which is sooooooo similiar to mine.

Nope, they don't, and I know. hahaha Try hot sauce on them, a good break in routine. Walmart has the same thing as great value brand thats cheaper yet. More money for molds.

OK, OK, I'm in! I will have to size em waaay down to 451, but a 6 cavity 275 grainer, will work sweet in my Smith Model 25-5 45 colt.

Sizing a 45 caliber slug down is easy on everything. With large lube groove, you will never notice the difference between a 458 vs a 452 by looks. ... felix

Put me down for one of these, too (and maybe two if timing is right). Hoping they come out close to the 275 gr mark.

Should be a ball in my RBH. Anyone know offhand if this will work through the S&W 25-5?

I guess a rifle in this 45 Colt caliber is (or at least should be) in my future, too.

I really like the looks of the Rossi or Puma lever gun in 45 colt or 454. I passed on a Rossi 45colt at a gun show for $200. I've been kicking myself ever since.

lar45---I just posted that you need to create more special occasions,so your wife can get the opportunity to use that Hoppes perfume. Now you tell us you missed an opportunity for said chance by not bringing that Rossi.357 home. Your wife would have been thrilled. Not much telling how much of that Hoppes she might have used. Guess I'll have to create a special thread of things you can do to create special occasions.

Carpetman, I did bring the Rossi 357 home and it shoots great, I really like it. I did happen across a Rossi 92 in 45 colt. It was blued with that really dard brazillian hard wood they use for the stocks. It looked really nice. My friend got one of the new Puma 44 mags, in stainless. It shoots and handles great.
I am getting the wife a 30 Carbine from a poster here for her birthday.

The group buy Lee 6 cavity molds have been running $56.00 each shipped, they do not come with handles, that is assuming we get 25 or more molds in the order.

Midway's August Sale flyer #218 (page 2, bottom of second column) is offering Lee 6-cavity handles at $11.39 ea. vs. their regular $12.39 - stock number 117-892. Probably as good as anything we'd negotiate with Lee. floodgate

I think 452.1 and I will have to make sure they do not come in under 454, we will talk about how to best dimension the drawing to accomplish that.

This may take some patience because if the molds are not to print we will have to send them back to Lee.
