Kroil to the rescue!

Old fan I run in the basement finally stopped after 5-6 years. Being thrifty (cheap) I took it apart and found the usual dust hair and lint, th shaft was frozen so out came the Kroil. One drop later the fan was on again!

Surprised the fans lasted that long. My grandmothers still got one with the metal blades from decades ago. Runs it every night while sleeping.

Kroil is great for freeing up the frozen shaft, but it is not a lubricant for long term use.
You need to get some real oil or grease in that motor ...

I picked the right wife, she likes the scent of kroil. That should be a test for all the single guys out there. ;)

Same in mine, we run a fan every night in our bedroom. White noise mainly but I like fresh air blowing, not just stagnant air.

I wash the fans with spray cleaner and water, using a brush. Even inside the motor. It will not hurt a thing, just let it dry.
Take the motor apart and soak the felt around the bushings with a good oil.
