336 rc help

i have a 336 rc from 1949 and have tried every hammer extension made and none fit
has anyone ever done a hammer swap on one of these to up grade to a 1958-82 style hammer

I'd keep it stock, but that is just me...

The old long-tube Weaver 4x scopes had slim profiles and short eye relief, the result was the ocular bell being well behind the spur. Some of them had ocular bells with flat top/bottom for even more clearance without going to high mounts.
